Celebrating International Yoga Day in Lake County

It’s calming. Restorative. Physically challenging—and rewarding. The benefits of yoga are multifold, so on International Yoga Day June 21st, why not celebrate in your own one-of-a-kind way?

Whether you do it from home or explore yoga-friendly destinations around Lake County, you’re in for something special! Take a look at today’s blog for a few of our favorite ways to spend the day.

Start at home

The great thing about yoga is that it can be done just about anywhere—so why not start at your Lake County home? It can be a great way to break up your daily routine and find some much-needed relaxation even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of your home.

So, how do you start? You can find a number of great resources online that will point you toward the routines and positions that are right for you, but a few beginner ideas include the mountain pose (where you stand up straight and reach your hands, palms facing one another, to the sky) or the warrior (a lunge pose where you extend one arm behind you and one arm toward the front). Just bring a yoga mat and a cold bottle of water to your pool deck, backyard, or garden for a great way to start the day or take a mental break.

Join a yoga community

Yoga can be done solo—it’s part of why we love it so much—but it can also be practiced socially, in organized classes or simply groups of friends.

Looking to get in on the social tradition of yoga, and enjoy it alongside friends? Join a local yoga community! You’ll find a number of such communities within Lake County itself. Still Lake Yoga in Clermont is a great place to get started in a number of types of yoga, from beginner classes to meditative or energy-focused ones. Eustis Yoga is another local spot worth checking out!

These are just a few spots around Lake County. Start at one of these and see where the journey takes you—you might just find your new favorite pastime.

Soak up the serenity of nature

Looking for natural spots around Lake County to practice yoga? Look to the name of our county—there are beautiful waterfront spots all around! In addition to great local state parks, local spots like Mount Dora’s Elizabeth Evans Park are as perfect as family picnic destinations as they are bona fide yoga escapes.

From beginners to experienced yogis, these are just a few fun ways to celebrate the day. Share your own ideas with us below!
